Important Website Decision

Hello all, a few days ago I had an idea about how we could get more members... I told a couple of you, and everyones views seem quite mixed. Missy came up with the idea of asking whether we should go ahead with it or not on the site. So here I am, asking.
My idea was, that we make the site public, to all of the realm. This would mean we would get more members (If people like the site they might join the guild :P ) and a lot more reputation. However, I would need proper moderators to work hard enforcing rules, and people to help me spread word about the site. The reason I thought of this is because I am quite annoyed, I spend hours working on this site for about 5 to talk on. While this is still Ok, I was planning on much more of the guild using it.
I am still open to ideas / suggestions, but I would really like an opinion of what you all think too.

Also, I decided not to make a poll for this, I'd rather you all post your opinions so I can understand them better.

I think you should go for it Oli. The more people who visit the site the better. We all appreciate how much work you put into this. It must get annoying though that so few guild members come on here. I think you will always get the hardcore posters that carry the site along but we have 500 members and if we can't get them to log on how do we expect the rest of Nagrand to?

I think if were to go through with it, it would be like a snowball rolling down a hill. If we spread the word, more and more people will go on, and then people will go on because lots of others do. It would be hard to start off, but if we really worked hard it could just pay off. You never know, maybe it would get Nameless members to go onto it more!
I checked hard on the internet, there is no specific forum for Nagrand except for the one on the WoW official site. This site would have more to offer, as it is a whole site dedicated to Naggy rather than a small forum section.
I still want to know what everyone else thinks, after all we would have to work much harder, I would need dedicated Moderators to patrol the site (Most of the active people who go on the site now are likely candidates) and I would need to change certain parts of the site in advance. I think it could go well.

It could be cool, we could emphasize Cataclysm and all the new things that come with it. People will be looking for info on the net about the things that are new anyways.

We could start organizing leveling groups for Cata. For example arrange a subsection in which you could find someone to level with.

Also stacking helpful links for new Cata content might be interesting for people

after having a little thinky time on the idea, you should go for it Oli. You have done a great job so far, theres no reason not to open it out to the whole realm. Just don't let it interfere with school -.- (my sensible bit for any parent who might glance in)

I guess we should go for it then! Thanks once again for support. Now I'll really be able to use some site functions to good use. At the weekend, sometime Saturday morning I will close the site for our first maintenance day to edit some topic and posts, change the banner and aesthetics to have a 'Nagrand' theme rather than just 'Nameless'
After that I will have to change the smileys, as I actually stole the majority of them from another site :O Lorlina if you could help me come up with some ideas for new smileys, by posting them in the artwork section that would be great. I know you are a good artist :P And if anyone else wants to help, it would be much appreciated.
Next I will need to change a few of the icons within the site. That won't take too long.

In all, it will probably take me a solid day of construction. On Saturday, if you log on when I have started you should get a message saying you can't get on. If this persists through Sunday too, I am still working, and have not completely finished yet. I am aiming to open it back up on Sunday, but If I can't then I will on Monday. Then we can really get this thing going

It never feels like you are bugging us :P You've always been a part of the site. But yes, You will be able to post, along with everyone else you know on the realm.

I felt out of place here since I left, my username isn't my char name anymore, now if you get people adding Miako in game you end up with a lv1 druids who's just making sure nobody else makes a char of that name. Confusing isnt it

When the site is ready for new people on Monday, spread the word to everyone you think could be interested. Friends, people you raid with etc.

Two more new updates, number one is that the maintenance will definitely take place over a two day period, during the weekend. I'll be doing something Saturday afternoon, so I'll need Sunday too.
Also, as it'll be a forum for Nagrand, the website address will be changing too! I'll confirm what it will change to on Friday.

I'll inform all the other guilds I'm connected with, if you want I can add the url to We Rule The Realm's Message of the Day, I'll pop it on our forum too. Sadly my friend who was in Pandora has changed server so I don't really have a way to tell them about it anymore, but I'll let all my other friends know.

Great, just not yet though, need to first actually edit the site XD they would be quite disappointed.

Ok, I'll make a topic for it in the artwork section, we can stick some ideas on there. I'm thinking of doing a little gnome character at the moment, will need to actually make him though. You got any ideas?

Hahah don't worry I wasn't planning on telling them just yet. wrtr have been a bit low on morale lately, hopefully they'll all perk up now that we have a raid manager who knows what they're doing, a happy guild is a guild more likely to post after all :P Hope the editing goes well.

None so far, all the little pieces are only just starting to slide into place.
